Objective

MicroCred is an investment company created by PlaNet Finance and partner investors: the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Société Générale and AXA Belgium. Those founding shareholders were joined by the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) in 2007 and Developing World Markets (DWM) in 2008.

MicroCred aims to create a group of commercial microfinance companies offering financial services to low-income entrepreneurs who do not have access to the traditional financial sector.

MicroCred invests in microfinance companies and provides them with the technical assistance they need to become leading microfinance institutions in their respective countries.

Structure

MicroCred is a company with a Management Board and a Supervisory Board.

The Management Board is responsible for the general management of the company. With the assistance of an internal team of experts and support of PlaNet Finance, MicroCred provides technical assistance to the MFIs in its investment portfolio.

The Supervisory Board monitors and controls the Management Board.

MicroCred offers the MFIs in its group the opportunity to benefit from international technical assistance by providing:

1. A strong brand and marketing strategy;
2. A common group Management Information System (MIS);
3. A consistent product offering within the Group;
4. A comprehensive methodology of staff training;
5. Good governance and internal control policies;
6. Human Resources Management methodologies and procedures in order to create a strong “corporate culture”;
7. Access to international financing.
